Botswana

LAND OF DRAMATIC CONTRASTS

Botswana

With nearly half of its land dedicated to wildlife reserves and conservation areas, Botswana boasts an abundance of wildlife and natural resources. In fact, due to its low population density and progressive government, much of Botswana is untouched and offers some of the most immersive safaris in the world. Landlocked and roughly the size of Texas, Botswana’s commitment to conservation is only matched by its stunning beauty. From breathtaking safari lodges and camps to vast, pristine reserves, Botswana truly gives visitors of taste of wild Africa.

Safari Experiences

Makgadikgadi Pans

  • If your idea of an adventure in Africa is more fast-paced, look no further than Makgadikgadi Pans. Adrenaline junkies will love the endless activities on offer in this remote region of Botswana, where a salt pan situated in the middle of the dry savanna of north-eastern Botswana attracts visitors seasonally. Makgadikgadi is one of the largest salt flats in the world, offering activities such as ATV adventures and horseback rides. The pans also play host to the largest Zebra migration in Southern Africa, with upwards of 30,000 animals moving together at once. It is truly one of the most remote lands you can explore in this part of the world, and such a valued addition to any Southern Africa itinerary.

Okavango Delta

  • The Okavango Delta is hands down the most romantic, ethereal destination in all of Africa. It just doesn’t get any more charismatic and effortlessly beautiful than this epic wetland. Explore the Okavango Delta by mokoro, motorized boat cruises, on foot, or on game drives. You can expect to experience an abundance of wildlife, pinch yourself sunsets, beautiful waterways, and what can only be described as the last authentic safari in Africa.

Known as “the river that never finds the sea”, the Okavango Delta is a wetland that floods seasonally, leading to many wildlife flocking to the area in search of water (and plenty of it!) You can expect to encounter lions, leopards, and perhaps even the elusive wild dogs, which are nowhere more present than here in the Delta.

Moremi Game Reserve

  • Moremi Game Reserve is located in northern Botswana, within the Okavango Delta. This beautiful wetland system of networks and naturally formed islands becomes a lush animal habitat during seasonal floods. And as far as Moremi Game Reserve goes, this is one of the most exclusive locations within the Delta.

You can expect to experience a safari like no other when visiting Moremi Game Reserve. When water levels allow for it, guests can partake in water safaris where you will board a traditional dugout canoe and navigate the waterways as you spot hippos, elephants, and an abundance of birdlife. This is truly a magical destination you should experience at least once in your life!

Undeniable Magic

As is true for numerous destinations in Africa, planning a visit is largely dependent on a traveler’s set of preferences. Botswana is no exception. Come drink in its undeniable magic all times of the year and experience some of the world’s finest deserts, deltas, grasslands, and savannahs.

Featuring the largest inland delta in the world, Botswana is known for its flatness and charming disconnect from reality. Epitomizing and reveling in a peaceful “off the grid” lifestyle, Botswana transports its visitors and is quick to excite, as animal migrations can be seen in every month. This has positioned Botswana as a truly “wild” location, which is best understood once one becomes immersed in nature amongst the vast greenery and exceptional wildlife.

“Why is it you can never hope to describe the emotion Africa creates? You are lifted. Out of whatever pit, unbound from whatever tie, released from whatever fear. You are lifted and you see it all from above.”
