THE PLACE WHERE SAFARI TRAVEL ORGINATED

Kenya

When you close your eyes and dream of Africa you'll probably see Kenya with its rolling plains, flat topped acacia trees, lakes full of flamingos and Mount Kilimanjaro shimmering in the distance. On a Kenya safari you can float in a balloon above a million wildebeest and zebra making their long migration across the Masai Mara and can listen to the stories of your scarlet clad Maasai guide as you sit around the campfire under a star filled sky.

Safari Experiences

Maasai Mara National Reserve

  • Every year, millions of wildebeest dominate the Maasai Mara and lead the charge of the Great Migration. Viewing the migration is one of the most magical experiences you can have in your lifetime, but it is especially so if you are a wildlife lover or nature enthusiast. Excellent game viewing, expansive plains, and authentic safari experiences are just a few of many reasons why it’s a top pick for travelers everywhere. Home to the Maasai people, the Mara also offers guests the unique opportunity to learn about local cultures and customs during their stay. The geographical location of the Maasai Mara is on the southwestern border of Kenya, neighboring Tanzania. This makes it a great option for travelers visiting both countries on their East African adventure.

Amboseli National Park

  • Amboseli National Park is a reserve in southern Kenya, close to the border to Tanzania. It is known for its large elephant herds, with sightings being frequent and impressive. Equally as impressive are the views of imposing Mount Kilimanjaro, located just across the border. You can expect to see an abundance of giraffes, zebras, cheetahs and hundreds of bird species.

Nairobi - Kenya’s Capitol City

  • As the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi is a sprawling metropolis. However there is much more to the urban core of Nairobi than originally meets the eye. The city is home to Nairobi National Park, a large game reserve with an impressive reputation for breeding black rhinos. It is also home to giraffes, zebras and lions.

Nairobi is also home to the bucket list destination Giraffe Manor. This family legacy has become a haven for the giraffe who take up residence here and welcome back-to-back bookings of guests from around the world year after year. If you can imagine yourself waking up with giraffes at breakfast, this destination is a must visit for you!

Alex Walkers Serian
Featured Property

The very foundation of Alex Walker’s Serian is constituted by a deep respect for the beautiful wilds of Kenya and Tanzania, as well as its people and cultures. The preservation of these precious spaces lies at the heart of our ethos and practice.

The Mara is Kenya’s natural extension of Tanzania’s Serengeti plains.

What’s remarkable here is Nature’s opulence: the landscape ranges from secret knots of woodland to wide open plains, to caches of rocks and boulders, to flat expanses of vastness, edged by sharp inclines of escarpment. For kids and older people especially, the ease of having everything right on your doorstep means you don’t have to drive all day – an early morning expedition yields plenty. As the sun’s rays extend, tender shoots glisten with jewel-like dew and the mist lifts off the forested areas, unveiling frisky antelope revelling in the day’s freshness. Like portly Cinderellas, hippo plod back to the mud after a night under the stars, and hyena slope across the savannah to sleep off a night of cackling and whooping. Cruise on a little further, and you might see the big cats the Mara is famous for, basking and golden as the sun gathers strength.
