If you are planning a trip to Uganda for the purpose of wildlife conservation, there is perhaps no place better than visiting Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is where you travel in Uganda if you are hoping to embark on a gorilla trekking journey. You can expect misty hillsides peaking through the backdrop, dense rainforests and an experience like no other.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
-
Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular savannah reserve. It also has the widest variety of wildlife of any Ugandan park, making this a great choice for a traditional safari matched with experiences you can only have here in Uganda. You can expect to encounter large mammals and primates, with chimp tracking available for something unique.
Kibale Forest
-
In Western Uganda, Kibale National Park is a protected rain forest that is home to unique wildlife creatures you won’t see elsewhere. There are 13 types of primates within the park, which acts to protect a variety of species of chimpanzees. Birdlife in this park is also prolific, and you can expect to have many unique encounters including the olive long-tailed cuckoo, western tinkerbird, two species of pittas and the grey parrot.
The Pearl of Africa
In 1907 Winston Churchill, who was at that stage of his life an explorer travelling the world, visited Uganda and went on safari there. He was blown away. In his book My African Journey (1908), Sir Churchill writes: For magnificence, for variety of form and colour, for profusion of brilliant life — bird, insect, reptile, beast — for vast scale — Uganda is truly ‘the Pearl of Africa.’ A country locked in, Uganda was once a part of the British Colony. The country is famous for being a safari paradise and is also often termed as 'Africa’s friendliest country'. Just as a pearl is encased securely in the heart of an oyster, so is Uganda situated in Africa. It combines the best of all Africa has to offer.
“Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures.”
